Hull is to receive almost £5 million to run a programme that will help people find work and support business growth.
The Community Led Local Development (CLLD) programme for Hull was launched at an event at The Guildhall on Monday.
The £4.8 million in European Structural and Investment Funds which will increase to £7.5 million with match-funding is to benefit some of the most disadvantaged areas of the city.
The programme will be distributed through a four-year competitive grants programme to address priorities including offering help to build work-related skills, providing help to find and access work, supporting local and community businesses and offering support to increase household incomes.
Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for Economic Investment, Regeneration and Planning, said: The CLLD programme will be supported by a Local Action Group Board, comprising members of the public sector, representatives from voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors, businesses and residents.
CLLDs approach of local organisations from all sectors working together with local residents to identify and address needs at a very local level will mean that projects funded through CLLD will be designed around what will work for people in the CLLD areas.
CLLD will help to deliver the City Plans focus on promoting inclusive growth, which aims to promote access to good jobs and quality skills and training for everyone. CLLD provides a good opportunity to ensure that support and resources are used in a targeted way that benefits some of the most deprived areas of the city and supports people into and towards work.
This is an opportunity to go beyond traditional employment and skills support services, to design and deliver innovative and creative projects that will make a lasting difference.
