Hull City Council statement:
Following excavation works for the ongoing Wawne Road carriageway repairs, further structural repairs are required to the Foredyke Bridge. Until this work is carried out the bridge will be closed to traffic for public safety reasons.
At this stage we estimate that the bridge will have to remain closed for approximately three months to allow completion of this essential work.
All other works will be completed as planned and on schedule, and access to Kingswood Academy will be maintained via the Bude Road/Wawne Road roundabout.
The current diversion utilising the emergency link road will remain in place until the bridge can be opened. We ask that motorists are patient and apologise in advance for any disruption caused during this extended period of works.
