Calling all young artists to enter exhibition
Budding young artists are being urged to get creative and submit work to be part of The Ferens Art Gallery, Junior Open exhibition. All of the winning entries will be displayed in the Hull Maritime Museum, the first time the museum has hosted the open exhibition.
The 2017 Junior Open Exhibition offers a platform for young people, aged 15 and under, to see their work displayed in one of the citys main museums. Entries can be made as an individual, or as part of a group or youth club between Monday 30 October – Sunday 12 November. Schools and clubs may submit a maximum of 20 artworks from individuals or on behalf of a class or club.
Councillor Terry Geraghty, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure and Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “Im really looking forward to seeing how being the UK city of culture has inspired young people in the city to be creative. Since the Ferens reopened in January weve been inundated with young artists, amongst our million visitors so far this year, trying out the learning programmes and new facilities in the education. We cant wait to see some new masterpieces.
Entries should be delivered to the Maritime Museum from Monday 30 October. The closing date for entries is Sunday 12 November. Works should be flat, on paper or card, and can be in a variety of media, e.g. paint, pastel, ink, collage. No framed work will be accepted. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
The selected artworks will be on display at the Hull Maritime Museum between Saturday 25 November and Sunday 21 January 2018.
