Hull City Council has committed almost £800,000 for major improvements to a key pedestrian route in west Hull.
The £791,768 footway reconstruction works will take place on both sides of Hessle Road from West Dock Avenue to Marmaduke Street.
The work will be carried out by Hessle engineering firm MB Roche and Sons.
The decision comes as the local authority builds on its commitment to improve the city for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists.
Councillor Dean Kirk, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for the development of footpaths and cycleways, said: “We have made a commitment not only to improve this city’s road network for drivers and cyclists, but also to ensure it is a safe and enjoyable place for pedestrians.
“We are grateful to those in the area for showing patience while these vital works are undertaken. The cooperation of residents and pedestrians will help to ensure these essential works are completed as quickly as possible.”
The works will be funded through the approved highways capital funding envelope.
