Jean Bishop Care Centre in line for another high-profile award

A Hull care facility is in line for a prestigious national planning award.

The Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre has been shortlisted for this year’s RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence.

It is in line for recognition in the Excellence in Planning for Health and Wellbeing category.

Councillor Daren Hale, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for planning, said: “Being shortlisted for such a prestigious planning award is suitable recognition for this fantastic facility, which would be a worthy winner of the award itself I am sure.

“Congratulations should go to all involved with the planning of this revolutionary care centre, which has changed the lives of so many of the city’s more vulnerable residents.”

The facility, opened in 2018 by Hull’s “Bee Lady” Jean Bishop, has already won awards for improving the lives of the city’s older people.

The facility won the best Community/Primary Care Service Redesign in the North, Midlands and East at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards in November last year.

Erica Daley, chief operating officer of NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We have some outstanding clinical, social care, voluntary teams and development partners involved in the centre and we are all proud of the way it is already improving health outcomes for older people in Hull.

“Good luck to the city council planning team, which has had an important role in bringing this project to reality.”

The RTPI Award-winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 30 April at Milton Court Concert Hall in London. See the full list of finalists here and book tickets for the ceremony here.
