A new children’s writing competition exclusive to Hull residents is encouraging more young people to get involved ahead of its November closing date.
The JVenn Young Writers’ Competition launched in Hull in 2017 to support literacy development for 7 – 14 year-olds across the city.
Due to the success of the competition, which saw eight children published in an anthology by Hull Libraries, the JVenn Foundation announced its intention to run the programme again this year. It hopes to build on its initial success by encouraging more young people across Hull to get creative.
There is only a short time left to enter the competition, with entries only being accepted until Friday 9 November.
Children can submit a short story of up to 500 words, a poem, blog or comic strip on the theme, ‘Earth’, for a chance to become a published author and win a selection of family theatre tickets and book tokens.
