Award-winning songwriter, composer and choir director Helen Yeomans is bringing her acclaimed choral theatre piece One World to Hull as part of UK City of Culture and is looking for elite singers to join the special performances.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Hull One World Freedom Chorus, auditions are being held on 9 and 10 September, at Kardomah 94 with rehearsals commencing at the end of the month. Helen is looking to recruit a committed and diverse choir of about 30 singers who are passionate about the themes of One World. experience in harmony and/or choir singing will be beneficial along with a desire to perform in public.
The One World show will be performed on 18 and 24 November and 2 December at Kardomah 94 and the Jubilee Church, in Hull. The production weaves together a selection of Helens best-loved songs with spoken word to highlight the crossroads at which humanity presently stands.
The show has been updated for the Hull performances, including brand new spoken word commissions from local poets. Helen is pulling together an elite group of mixed voice adult singers to form the new Hull One World Freedom Chorus which will perform all the music. Under Helens direction the chorus will underpin the production, featuring a variety of ensembles and solos. This is a unique opportunity for local singers to work with one of Britains top choral leaders on a ground-breaking new show.

Helen Yeomans last worked in Hull on a fantastic project with Hull Freedom Chorus commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe in the presence of the Freedom Flame. This resulted in a moving performance in Holy Trinity Church, which featured in a local TV documentary.
This rare opportunity to work with Helen Yeomans is brought to Hull with the support of Hull City Councils Arts Development and funding from Arts Council England, as part of the Councils Singing City initiative.
