Absolutely Cultured names new chief executive

Absolutely Cultured has appointed a new chief executive.

Stephen Munn, who is chief executive and artistic director at Deda, a dance and production company in Derby, will join the Hull culture company in October.

Stephen held his current role for 13 years, overseeing a successful period of growth. He holds an MA in Arts Management and Policy from City University, London.

He said he was excited to start work in the “cool” city of Hull.

Stephen said: “Hull is such a cool place and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to help shape the next part of the Absolutely Cultured journey and further develop its unique signature within the city.

Stephen Munn will join Absolutely Cultured in October.

“I am looking forward to joining the Absolutely Cultured team and am excited about what the future holds for both the organisation and Hull itself. I passionately believe in the power of arts and culture to lead regeneration, raise aspiration and transform lives and places.

“I have seen the great work that the organisation has delivered so far and am keen to build on that early success.”

Lee Corner, chair of Absolutely Cultured, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stephen to the Absolutely Cultured team. His strong background in the arts compliments his strategic leadership and experience of developing partnerships both within cultural communities and cross sector.

“He shares our commitment to the transforming potential of the arts and culture for the people of Hull and future generations. And he brings with him a sound understanding of fundraising and business development.”
