Hull registrars prepare to welcome back wedding parties

Hull City Council’s Registration Service is preparing to reopen for wedding ceremonies.

Under new coronavirus guidelines announced on Tuesday by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, weddings of up to 30 people will be permitted to take place from Saturday 4 July.

But before the service can resume, more clarity is being sought on the logistics of future ceremonies, according to registration and coroners manager Jillian Fill.

She said: “We know there are many couples who will be delighted to hear yesterday’s news and we are working hard to ensure the service can resume as soon as possible.

“We ask people bear with us while we make adjustments to ensure ceremonies can go ahead safely.

“Social distancing measures will need to be adhered to and could mean we are unable to accommodate the maximum number the Government has noted.”

More information will be made available at hull.gov.uk soon.
