Hull’s leisure centres to reopen this weekend

Woodford Leisure Centre, Ennerdale Leisure Centre and Costello Stadium will reopen to the public on Saturday 25 July.

Facilities including gyms, pools, fitness classes and racquet sports will be accessible via a pre-booking service.

The outdoor cycle circuit at Ennerdale and track and field activities at Costello Stadium will also open to the public.

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “We know how much residents have missed our leisure centres so I’m delighted we are now able to open for them.

“Our teams have been working hard behind the scenes to make the centres safe for all users and the new pre-booking service for all activities has been an essential part of that.

“We understand things may look a little different and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding whilst we adjust to these changes.”

Due to the Government’s Covid-19 guidelines, visitors are asked to arrive ready for the activity they have booked, including wearing swimwear under clothing, socially distanced queueing systems, regular use of hand sanitising systems across the building and pre-booking slots for gym, classes and pool.

Gym and fitness class visitors will be required to bring their own water bottles and to use blue roll provided instead of their own towels. Changing facilities will not be available for use, as they will be reserved for swimmers only.

Swimmers will be able to pre-book hourly sessions and lifeguards will be on hand to assist visitors with the safe use of the pool. Family bookings will be allocated an area of the pool.

Pay-as-you-go customers will need to set up an online pay-as you-go membership to enable them to pre-book sessions here or by calling the centres directly. Regular members can book sessions up to 48 hours in advance and pay-as-you-go members up to 24 hours in advance.

Details on how the centres will operate can be found here.
