Hull City Council is asking those providing holiday clubs and out of school activities to let the public health team know if a child or member of staff becomes unwell with coronavirus symptoms.
Now the summer holidays have begun, the council wants to ensure that any organisations providing holidays clubs and activities know where to go for the latest information and advice about coronavirus.
It is asking groups to report coronavirus symptoms or a positive test result to the public health team.
Helen Christmas, public health lead for children and young people, said: “These settings provide enriching activities that give children the opportunity to socialise with others outside their household and promote their wellbeing.
“We are asking childcare and out of school providers to let the public health team know if a child or member of staff who has been attending their setting becomes unwell with coronavirus symptoms or has a positive test result, so we can offer support and advice really early on.
“We also want to ensure that providers know where to get the latest public health guidance, for their own peace of mind and for that of the families involved.”
Information and advice about protective measures is available from gov.uk. as well as specific information relating to cleaning, which plays a vital role in limiting the transmission of coronavirus, as well as when to self-isolate, who should access testing and how to arrange a test.
Organisations should let the public health team know of someone experiencing coronavirus symptoms, such as a high temperature, new continuous cough, loss of or change to sense of smell or taste, by emailing [email protected].
If a child or member of staff member tests positive, the provider needs to notify the Health Protection Team at Public Health England by ringing 0113 3860300.
