Hull’s 107th Lord Mayor Steve Wilson takes the chains

The new Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, has been officially installed in office.

Councillor Steve Wilson received the chains and robes in a ceremony this morning at the Guildhall, becoming the 107th Lord Mayor of the city.

Cllr Wilson’s husband, Karl Hudder, was named his Consort.

The Deputy Lord Mayor’s chains were also passed to Councillor Lynn Petrini, whose Consort is her husband Graham.

The new Lord Mayor announced the chosen charities he will raise money for during his year as Age UK, Ganton School and the Hull Bullnose Heritage Group.

He said: “I’m delighted to be representing the city and raising money for three local charities. I hope to encourage people from all walks of life to get involved in politics.”

Councillor Wilson was elected at the council’s annual meeting on Thursday 16 May. He will fulfil the role of Lord Mayor for the 2019/2020 mayoral year.
