The council has shown further commitment to the future of culture and tourism in Hull with funding for the Visitor Welcome & Information Facility Pod to remain open and continue to provide a quality visitor experience.
The popular pod, which has been open and welcoming visitors to the city since September 2016 will be staffed with Tourism Information Officers and Hull 2017 Volunteers whose programme is continuing.
Deputy Leader of Hull City Council, Councillor Daren Hale said:
The visitor pod has proved a valuable asset to the city over the past 16 months and the council was very keen to ensure that provision continued.
We remain committed to funding culture through identifying those projects which will offer a real and visible legacy.
The Hull 2017 volunteer programme has, in my opinion, been one of Hulls biggest achievements and I am excited to see them play a significant role in providing information to visitors to the city for many years to come.
The pod, which was planned for closure earlier this month, will now remain open seven days a week.
