This is why children have been meeting baby vegetables in Hull this week

A very special allotment has been visiting communities in Hull this week.

The Allotment, home to lots of baby fruit and vegetables, has been travelling around the city as part of the Back to Ours festival.

The Allotment is the creation of street-theatre company Plunge Boom. The fun and imaginative nursery of fruit and vegetables includes Barbara, the downhill-racing watermelon, Jessica, the sweet potato beauty queen and David, the talented Marrow whose ambition is to become a stage actor.

Children are invited to look after, interact and find out more about their new friends.

Festival producer Thom Freeth said: “We’re all about bringing national and international quality events to people in their neighbourhoods. Working with our amazing partner venues we take over their  spaces and transform them, whisking people away into another world.”
