Members of the UK Youth Parliament are to take part in a debate in the House of Commons chamber on Friday 4 November to decide on the priority campaign for 2023.

300 members, aged 11 to 18, will debate the issues chosen by the Make Your Mark ballot, which was hosted in Hull in July. They will then vote on which issue should become the UK Youth Parliament’s priority campaign for next year.

Two youth representatives from Hull will join the debate and represent the city’s young people.

Logan Richard, age 13, is a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) representing Hull. He said: “At the annual conference here in Hull, the Hull Youth Parliament Members raised the issue of wellbeing and mental health as a priority and this is being taken forward to the debate in the House of Commons.”

Councillor Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for children’s services said: “It’s great to see young people from Hull taking our city’s voice to Westminster. Right now, politics is on people’s minds like never before and it’s vital the voices of young people in our city are heard.

“I look forward to hearing about the issue they choose for the 2023 campaign, and being able to help them deliver the campaign here in Hull.”
