See award-winning gardens from council tenants in Hull

These gardens are the gold standard among Hull City Council’s talented tenant gardeners.

From pots and hanging baskets to lush lawns and vegetable plots, entries in this year’s council tenants’ gardening competition showed the time and care taken to nurture these green spaces.

Victor Smart’s garden, which won the Best Citywide Garden award.

Doreen Hunt from Park Area won the Best Maintained Garden award, while Victor Smart from Riverside won the Best Citywide Garden award.

Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Lynn Petrini presented the awards at the Guildhall.

She told winners: “Hull is renowned for its historic parks and gardens and your efforts in bringing colour and new growth in your own neighbourhoods enhances the local built environment and adds to our reputation as a green city.

“Your entries are testament to what you can grow here in Hull.”
