Enterprising Hull students who took part in Hull City Councils Make £5 Blossom project are to share their stories of hard work and creativity.
Primary, secondary and special school students will share stories of how they used loans to try to make a profit through enterprising ideas involving Hull at the projects 15th end celebration, which takes place at Craven Park, the home of Hull Kingston Rovers, in Preston Road, Hull, on Tuesday 24 April.
The event starts at 9.30am for 10am and will end at about 12.30pm.
In November 2017, each group was given a loan of £150 from business partners, with which they had to show their entrepreneurial spirit and Big 13 Enterprise Skills.
Profits will be shared between enterprising young people, the Action for Ashley Charity and the Be Enterprising practitioner group to support future enterprise activities.
The schools and businesses involved included Gillshill Primary and Danny Barker Music (a young entrepreneur), Craven Primary and KCOM, Rise Academy and Nas Tac (a young entrepreneur), Alderman Cogan and Spring Estate Agents, Mersey/Estcourt and AA Global, Thorpepark and Become Marketing (a young entrepreneur), St Marys College and Engaging Education (a young entrepreneur), Westcott and RDS Training, Christopher Pickering and Pepperells, Eastfield Primary and Ron Dickinson, Marvell College and My Baby Can Dance, Thoresby Primary and Swift Group, Buckingham and AB Rooms, Sidmouth and Working for Health, Tweendykes and St Stephens Shopping Centre, Neasden and Inspire Ignite and St Richards with Primarytec.
Harlie and Halle, two pupils from Eastfield Primary, said: We learned a lot about business and profit but also about the risk of it not working. I really enjoyed it and our business partner Ron was really nice and encouraging. I have learned about the 13 skills needed to be a good team to start a business. It doesn’t always go right the first time and there’s always a risk! I gained more confidence thanks to Ron and Miss Hewson and was excited about our make our £5 blossom.
Sue Altass of Inspire Ignite said: We had no idea what to expect when we handed over our loan of £150 to a group of primary school children. The £5 Blossom programme encourages the children and schools taking part to think outside the box of curriculum learning. This generates enthusiasm, fun and forward thinking. As a business, we were delighted to work with Neasden school and we are really looking forward to their presentation on what they have learned.
