Park View residents receive first dose of coronavirus vaccine

Residents at Park View care home in west Hull have received their first vaccination to protect against Covid-19.

13 residents and 53 members of staff were injected with the first dose of the Pfzier vaccine on Friday, as part of the mass vaccination programme being rolled out across the city.

It’s the first Hull City Council-run care home to take part in the programme.

Maria Murphy, registered care home manager at Park View, said: “We are pleased that the first round of this crucial vaccine has been administered to some of the most vulnerable people in our society, and we look forward to organising the second phase in 12 weeks.

“It was a complex task, with some residents needing additional reassurance, but we got there in the end. There is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Councillor Gwen Lunn, portfolio holder for public health and adult services, said: “We’re delighted that, in addition to those who are most vulnerable, our care staff are starting to receive their vaccines.

“They’ve worked throughout the pandemic, making huge personal sacrifices to ensure people received the care they needed. Going out while most of us got to work safely at home.

“Hopefully it will provide them with enormous peace of mind to be able to work knowing they are now protected.”
