Hull Pirates secure treble success

Hull Pirates clinched a remarkable treble yesterday with a 5-4 overtime victory against Peterborough Phantoms in the national play-off final.

The ice hockey team secured the treble with a dramatic win in Coventry on Final Four Weekend, after already picking up the National North One league and play-off titles earlier this year.

It was far from an easy ride though. Before leaving it to overtime to beat the Phantoms in the final, the Pirates came back from 2-0 down to beat Bracknell Bees 6-2 in the semi-final.

To celebrate their fantastic achievement, the Pirates have been invited to a civic reception at the Guildhall on Thursday evening.

Next season they will join the new National League, which will be bring together the top sides from National North One and National South One.
