A property owner has been prosecuted by Hull City Council for failing to get the correct consent for building works.
Mr Gholam Parvis of Hull, was found guilty by Hull Magistrates Court at a hearing on Friday 7 July 2017. Mr Parvis was fined £660 along with costs of £2,295.
The prosecution followed complaints from local residents about ongoing building works at the property on 765 Anlaby Road, Hull. Hull City Councils Building Control team visited the premises and noted a significant amount of building work being undertaken, including the conversion of a single storey extension.
Despite repeated attempts to discuss the matter with Mr Parvis, with a view to gaining compliance with the Building Regulations, the Council was left with no alternative than to commence formal legal proceedings.
Prior to the prosecution Mr Parvis was served with notice which required him to remove the work that is in contravention of the building regulations.
Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for planning, said: It is disappointing that Mr Parvis failed to work with the Councils building control officers, leaving the authority no other option than to proceed with a prosecution.
