Lord Mayor to meet Hull’s latest army recruits

On Friday 11 August the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor John Hewitt, is meeting five young men from Hull who are all joining The Yorkshire Regiment on the same day.

Representing The Yorkshire Regiment will be the Regimental Adjutant, Captain James Jenkins and serving soldiers.

James said: “We have always been successful in recruiting from Hull and the other east coast towns, but to have five young men from Hull join-up together is very unusual. In all probability they will even be going through training together. I am sure they can all look forward to an exciting time as they are joining the best infantry regiment in the British Army – Yorkshire’s Warriors.”

The Lord Mayor said: “In this special year for our great city, we can all be very proud of these young men who have chosen to represent their country in our county’s own regiment. Hull is proud of its connections with the military and particularly this fine Regiment. I will really enjoy the opportunity to meet the new recruits and to wish them all good luck for the future.”

The names of our new Yorkshire Warriors are:
• GC Broadbent
• MB McHale
• Leach
