Hull City Council last night received the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) award for Best Public/Private Partnership in recognition of the work done with partners Wykeland Beal to transform the Fruit Market area of Hull.
The awards recognise excellence in local government frontline services and highlight local councils that have embraced change, innovation and best practice in order to continually offer outstanding services despite budget cuts.
APSE Chief Executive Paul OBrien said:

APSE works continually to encourage public service excellence and we are delighted that all our finalists and winning councils are so highly committed to delivering the best possible services for the benefit of their communities.”
Hulls Fruit Market has been one of the great success stories of the year as UK City of Culture and has provided a stunning stage for the great events that the city has hosted. At the same time it is an important part of the City Plan ambition to make Hull a world-class visitor destination for decades to come. The regeneration of this and other areas will continue into 2018 and the city has much to look forward to.

This is a great example of how initiatives like this, that bring together both the hard work of our officers and our private sector partners , mean that we now have the fastest growing economy in Yorkshire with £3bn of investment since 2013 alone.
