Children’s Centres continue to support families in Hull

Children’s centres in Hull are to remain open for support and advice for families.

Support will be available from Monday to Friday, either over the phone or by arranging an appointment to visit the centres, and if assessed as safe in the family’s home.

All buildings have a risk assessment in place, and anyone coming into a centre will be asked to socially distance, wear a face mask and sanitise their hands.

Heather Barnes, Manager of Hull’s Children’s Centres said: “We continue to offer a whole range of information and support around parenting, play activities, routines, boundaries and behaviour. The centres will be offering a range of online sessions, and there is already a fantastic range of play, education, health, accident prevention advice and mindfulness for children and families on all of our Facebook pages.”

A full list of centres, phone numbers and opening times can be found here.

FareShare collections are continuing to operate from the centres, providing food and groceries to those who need it.

Midwifery clinics run from the children’s centres will also continue as normal. Parents with queries about midwifery or maternity care should contact Hull Women and Children’s Hospital.

Birth registrations will continue to be offered in the children’s centres, by appointment. Book here.

The Us Mums team are offering a wide range of exercise classes and healthy eating ideas via www.facebook.com/UsMumsHull.

Families can also access the Solihull online parenting guides for free, just enter the code FREEDOM when logging in www.inourplace.co.uk and the NSPCC Look Say Sing Play ‘Brain Building’ activities.

If you want advice from your health visitor, their duty team can be contacted 01482 344301.  Pre booked clinic appointments will continue and for further details please contact your local team via the duty team number or CHCP for further information and advice.

Councillor Peter Clark, Portfolio Holder for learning, skills and safeguarding children said: “We understand that this can be a particularly challenging time for us all, and especially parents, therefore it is important that we continue to provide advice and support to families, in a covid safe way.”
