Hull’s flagship customer service centre, the Wilson Centre, will reopen next week following a major remodel.

On Monday, visitors to the centre in Alfred Gelder Street will be welcomed in a new meet-and-greet area created alongside online stations where customers can access vital council services.

More than 30 self-service desks, alongside payment kiosks, a waiting area and private interview rooms have also been added.

A new tablet zone will enable customers to get quick answers to enquires and scan stations allow for easy upload of documents to customers’ accounts.

The changes have also seen Citizens Advice to move downstairs to allow for easier access.

Councillor Daren Hale, deputy leader of Hull City Council, said: “We would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding during these works which has allowed for work to be completed swiftly.

“The new ground floor has been totally modernised offering direct online access to more than 80 council services, alongside one-to-one assistance from our staff.”

Bransholme and the Orchard customer service centres will remain open Monday to Friday, allowing residents to access council services without visiting the city centre.

Free internet access is also available at a number of council buildings. To find your nearest place, visit www.hull.gov.uk and search for My Hull Maps.
