Free health roadshow aims to improve residents’ first aid skills

Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd is joining forces with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to hold a heath roadshow with free workshops covering key first aid skills.

The five 20 minute sessions will be delivered by professionals to residents, volunteers of local clubs and organisations, professionals, and parents.

Workshops will cover everything from identifying a heart attack and how to treat, recovery position, CPR, defibrillator use and choking.

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure said: “A knowledge of basic first aid is so incredibly important and can save lives. These sessions are invaluable and I would encourage anyone wanting to learn more to come along and join in.”

Councillor Gwen Lunn, Portfolio Holder for Public Health, at Hull City Council, said: “The roadshow isn’t just for people working in health; there is something for you if you want to know more about your own health or your family’s. Come along to learn first aid skills, pick up some freebies and find out about great local projects like Healthy Hull, which is all about eating well and getting active.

“Everyone is welcome and sessions don’t need to be booked”.

The roadshow will be held at Woodford Leisure Centre on Friday 10 December from 4pm. Sessions do not need to be pre-booked and will be held as follows:
