Hull City Council’s Employment Hub is set to run two employment events, which will see top employers attend in a bid to recruit new staff locally.
The Employment Hub, located on the first floor in Hull Central Library, will run employment events on the 7th October and the 18th of October.
The events are free for members of the public to attend and will allow potential candidates to meet employers, who will be showcasing the full range of the hundreds of jobs available in the region, spanning sectors including care, retail and public services.
Candidates can expect to meet recruitment representatives from over 30 employers, including Tesco, ResQ, Bright Blue Foods, Humbercare and East Yorkshire Buses. The Employment Hub team will be available on the day to assist with applications, if needed.
The opportunity is not limited to those looking for full time positions, employers also have part-time and temporary contracts, and early morning and night shifts available – perfect for those seeking Christmas temp or seasonal contracts, or students needing flexible hours.
Councillor Daren Hale, Leader of Hull City Council said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone in the city who is seeking work to meet employers face to face and talk casually about jobs they’re interested in, express their interest and find out how to apply.
“It’s great that businesses in the city are beginning to again flourish and the economy is back on track to the levels it had reached before the pandemic.
“Although the unemployment rates are falling in the region, there are still hundreds of jobs available locally and it’s important we encourage people who are seeking work, where possible.”
The Employment Hub has already helped hundreds of people of all ages on the path to rewarding new careers. Since its conception in February 2021, it has facilitated 1158 referrals with 149 into work, 97 into training opportunities, 16 into volunteering roles, 1 work placement and 454 people have gained employability support.
The hub also runs Kickstart Scheme, a DWP employment scheme which creates fully funded six-month placements for 25 hours per week for people aged 16 to 24 who are eligible for Universal Credit. So far the scheme has had 515 placements with businesses in Hull and 43 internal placements in the council. Its staff are working with nearly 200 businesses and Job Centre Plus in Hull to assist with job vacancies.
The 7th October event will take place at the Employment Hub, located on the first floor of the library, and the 18th October event will take place in the Guildhall Banqueting Suite. Both events are free to attend but you will need to pre-register attendance either by calling 01482 616623 or on Eventbrite, link here: Employment Hub – Employment Event Tickets, Mon 18 Oct 2021 at 09:30 | Eventbrite.
